There is no doubt that clothing and memory share a connection as clothes have a peculiar way of evoking memories. Our past experiences are intricately stitched and woven into the fabric, and the minute we see or touch this piece of clothing, memories flood back in. For me, every time I wear this white dress, I’m transported back to the South of France on this very particular day.

It was mid-July, and we had driven out from our hub in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in search of the lavender fields in Valensole. We ate pan au chocolat in the car, and created a Provence road trip playlist that I still listen to almost daily. It was a 2 hour drive through the most enchanting landscapes, and when our car came around the bend and the hillside turned purple, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Seeing the beauty of these lavender fields in person had always been at the top of my bucket list, and I was finally checking it off.

Every time I wear this dress and feel the swish of fabric sway, I’m right back here in these fields. I can still smell the scent of lavender caught on the breeze, I can still feel the sun on my skin, but above all, I can still remember exactly how I felt. I remember looking out at the endless purple waves and feeling so eternally grateful for such an experience. My heart was full.

This ethereal dress will forever serve as a momento of this beautiful day. I will never forget the summer we frolicked through the stunning lavender fields being chased by some grasshoppers and bumblebees.
