California Fall

I have dubbed myself “Queen of Summer” (I’m a July baby after all), but that doesn’t mean I can’t be excited for fall. Who doesn’t love all the fashion and festivities that come with this time of year?

For someone who lives in sundresses throughout most of the year, I sure do enjoy dusting off those sweaters that have been in hibernation all year. Thankfully I can still incorporate my California style since the weather is stays pretty mild. Popping one on with a skirt or even over a dress is my favorite way to wear them. It’s an ideal pairing for those chilly mornings but warm afternoons. This time of year is usually when I’ll throw on some clogs or booties in lieu of my typical heels. And an outfit isn’t complete without some fall colors. Just like my burnt orange “Hocus Pocus” dress, this rust is perfect for evoking all the autumnal feelings.

And even though it doesn’t quite feel like fall here, it’s not going to stop me from enjoying all the fall activities!

For me, going to the pumpkin patch officially kicks off the season! There’s something so nostalgic about picking out your pumpkin; I’ve done it every year for as long as I can remember. It’s so fun and totally gets me in the Halloween spirit. We just have to wait until the last possible moment to carve them because otherwise they will turn to mush in the heat!

If there was one thing I was most looking forward to, it would be apple picking. Last year was our first time going, and I had the time of my life! When I think of fall, my mind automatically goes to that apple orchard and that warm November day when we drove out to Oak Glen for the afternoon. We brought home two big bags worth, and I made the tastiest apple crumble with our harvest. I seriously cannot wait to do it all over again!

I get excited for this time of year because it also starts building anticipation for all the holidays! Once October comes around, we have one to celebrate every month! And who doesn’t love the holiday season?! Everyone is in a cheery mood and there are so many fun parties!

We may not have intense seasons in California, but I still love to embrace whatever time of year it is and all the festivities that come with it. It doesn’t matter that it’s 80°F as long as I’m making new lasting memories.

xo,
Ashley
