Goodbye 2019, Hello 2020

I’ve had some time to reflect back on the last year, and boy, was it a whirlwind. January though April felt like a year on its own, we had the longest summer ever, fall was 2 seconds, and now SoCal cannot make up its mind about winter. There were a couple of exciting milestones, like turning 30 in Paris and celebrating a year of marriage. We traveled to Mississippi to surprise my husband’s grandmother for her 80th birthday, we spent 2 weeks in France, and watched USC football in Seattle. I started this blog, which was a goal of mine for a few years, and love writing about my life, fashion, and travels. All in all, 2019 was a good year, but I’m really excited to see what 2020 has in store.

Instead of having New Year’s resolutions that I may or may not stick to, I’d like to set some mindful one-word intentions for this year. Intentions that can help guide my thoughts, choices, and attitude and help me be a better person overall. I want to focus more on being than actual doing. These words will serve as a North Star leading me on my journey through 2020.

Gratitude
I truly live a blessed life. My friends are amazing, and I have a loving and supportive husband and family. I call a beautiful beach town my home, and I’m healthy and able to work. I need to remember how lucky I really am. This is especially pertinent when I get upset because they are usually just small problems or minor inconveniences.

Confidence
Somewhere along the way this past year I feel like lost my confidence. There are a few reasons I can point to that may be the culprit, but regardless, I’m determined to live confidently. I’m ready to walk with my head held high, not worrying about anyone’s opinion. I’m ready to trust in myself to make decisions and not rely on advice. That woman in inside me, I just have to find her again.

Power
This life is up to me. I want to live a meaningful life that I’m proud of, with all the gratitude and confidence. The beautiful thing is, I have all the power to do so. What an incredible feeling to realize this! With every thought, decision, and action, I will be mindfully working closer to doing so.

2020 is going to be great, I can feel it. By setting these intentions, gratitude, confidence, power, I’m setting myself up to have mindful (and successful) year. I cannot wait to watch amazing things unfold!

xo,
Ashley
