Current Obsessions

Reading isn’t a new found thing, but recently my passion for it has been reignited. I used to read a lot when I was younger, so it’s quite nice to be able to find such pleasure in it again. As of today, I’ve already read 11 books this year. Just goes to show that once I enjoy something tremendously, it easily becomes a new obsession.

So without further ado, here’s this month’s Current Obsessions [Reading Edition]!

Note: All my “old” obsessions still hold true and can be found on the Series page.

The Readheads Book Club Podcast
I’m obsessed with The Morning Toast Podcast, so when one of the sisters decided to create her own book club podcast, I was in 100% in. This could not come at a better time as one of my goals for this year was to read more. How it works: you have a whole month to read the chosen book before they discuss it on the next episode. I read the first book back in February and immediately caught the reading bug because since then, I’ve just been devouring books. I really owe it to this podcast for bringing me back to loving reading again.

Colleen Hoover
I’m no stranger to a good romance novel. I grew up reading them and have read my fair share of Nicholas Sparks. I pivoted away from them when I got hooked on historical fiction (if you haven’t read The Nightingale, do yourself a favor and do it!). I can now officially say I’m back on the romance train after discovering Colleen Hoover. She writes the perfect love stories, all with their own unique twist. Every single book I’ve read of hers has been a 5/5. Pick one up; You won’t be disappointed.

Goodreads
This is a must-have for all book lovers. It quickly become one of my most used apps. You can keep track of all the books you’ve read and even rate them. I’m constantly reading other reviews and ever growing my “want to read” list. Goodreads will even suggest books depending on the genre you like and what you’ve already read. It’s almost like book Facebook in which you can add friends and view their book shelves. I love being able to see what others are reading and what they recommend. There are so many books out there, so this is such a useful tool.

Book Light
If you want to read in bed, this light is a great solution. It has been the perfect addition to help fuel my reading obsession. It’s compact, adjustable, and has 3 levels of brightness. I prefer the warm light option that isn’t so harsh as I’m trying to settle down for the night. I love that it’s given me the ability to be able to read in bed, and I’m finding myself reaching for my phone less and less before going to sleep. It’s a much better alternative, even if I do stay up way too late to finish a book sometimes.

xo,
Ashley
